Bird Girl?

Don't ask me how but in looking at things to inspire story ideas, I happened across an article about Koo Koo the Bird Girl.

I don't want to post a picture of her. I talk about feminine beauty and Koo Koo did not have it.

Apparently, she was featured in an old movie called 'Freaks'. I have never seen this, barely have ever heard of it.

A long time ago, my dad said my grandfather took a dim view of freak shows and never allowed him to go. I don't remember my dad ever taking me to one. Not that such things are all that.

Back in the old days, people seemed to take advantage of others' misfortunes. You can see this in freak shows, what happened in Europe back then, nuclear testing in the American West.

If Koo Koo, real name Minnie, had some gnarly congenital deformity, it should have been treated with sensitivity, not a subject of scorn and profit.

Oh, what do I know? That all happened way before I was born.

I can do way worse things in stories and make a real bird girl. I don't portray freak shows but the beauty of speculative fiction is that one can do that.

I still would not go to a freak show. The idea actually bothers me.

Large Asteroid to Buzz Earth Tonight

Nat Geo wants us to watch this but really, the way life is now, don't ya wish it would hit the earth already? We need a huge event to change life, to have a common goal to work toward.

Also, less people means less pressure on the earth. Too bad it won't happen today.

You can see it here.

Transgender Politician

This is Yollada. She is a politician who is Thai and has recently won a victory to whatever post in the Thai government.

Like Jenna T, Yollada is an attractive transgender person. It makes me wonder if humans as we evolve, are losing sexual dimorphism. I have XY-chromosomes as well but I sure don't look like a girl.

Though at wm, I was often mistaken for a girl. I do not know what that was about, could be my not-gender-specific eyeglasses. I like my glasses though I hate being myopically blind without them.

Read this story about Yollada, http://goo.gl/TqZsK

It is at Global Post, a news site that I read occasionally.

Don't mistake my interest in transgender people for wanting to be that way. I want to know how it happens and what it feels like. A great majority of transgender people I have seen are not attractive so how are these ex-boys attractive?

I wouldn't mind having one as a friend but nothing more than that.

Of all things to be curious about. I don't know why.

Oh, and mosquitoes. The little scourge. They seem to be a bad problem here. I will write about that later.

Guardian

You may know what this is.

It is Jupiter, a massive gas giant planet that could have been a star and shares some characteristics.

It's like a mini solar system, with nearly 40 moons and the four big ones, Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto, are bigger than our moon, worlds unto themselves.

Jupiter looks cool through a telescope, though you'd need a big one to resolve details on the moons. In my telescope, they are bright points of light.

Why is it a guardian? It's powerful gravity can deflect, pull in, or fling away a comet heading into the inner solar system. It stabilizes the orbit of the asteroid belt and Mars.

It is in the sky in the evenings now, a bright dot that doesn't flicker like stars do, no planet does.

I like to watch video taken by Voyager 1 and Galileo of the clouds writhing and moving along like a roiling current in an endless sea.

I remember a month after I graduated high school, Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 broke up and hit Jupiter. It was cataclysmic, a fireball more massive than the Earth.

Imagine what that would do if it hit our world.

Thanks to our guardian, it did not.

Beta Cygni

This is my first digital art image. It is on http://arthelius-ghost.deviantart.com/

I call it Beta Cygni, the large gas planet is Enako. The strange shapes in it are storms and instability in its gravitational field. It is about 6 AU from the ficional version of the real binary star Albiero.

Albiero is the 'head' of Cygnus, in larger commercial telescopes, it resolves into a beatiful blue and gold binary.

Fictional Enako and its earthlike moon are just one of four planets and 29 moons in the system, but I won't draw those, boring, lifeless environs.

Qeyia, her mate Qevan, both Aniq'et, are from that moon. I forget its name, I haven't been sleeping good recently.

Tell me if you like it. I am so bad at drawing. I used pattern fill, color blur, and the regular Paint in Windows to color the moon. I blur them in Corel Painter 12, which I only have a trial of. I do have GIMP-image, an alternative to photoshop. It costs nothing. I have Corel Paint Shop X3 which I edit pictures in all the time. It helps in resizing and clarifying the rough images since I am not that good at drawing with a mouse.

One of these days, I will get a tablet and draw that way. I have a million things to share from my stories and characters.

The biggest city on that moon is Arcology. It is also home to the odd looking Lipoan people.

If I can get help from real artists on DeviantArt, I will ask them to help me draw Qeyia. You would like how she looks.

Something I Didn't Know

This is Lt. M'Ress, a Catian female who appeared in the Animated Star Trek series.

I have never seen the animated series. It came on before I was born, and ran up to my first years. Why can't Star Trek remain true to its storylines? I think the whole idea of Reboot is such BS.

My favorite Star Trek series is DS9. I like and dislike things about Voyager. I watched the Next Generation for years and it got old after a while.

I am not a huge Star Trek fan. I like Star Wars more than anything like that.

However, Star Trek has a rich history and a compelling backstory.

About M'Ress, a catgirl? I have read that they inserted Kzinti into the Animated Series. I have read most of the Man-Kzin Wars stories. I always thought the idea of a feline race was cool. My favorite animal is the cheetah.

I am a cat person, though is it right for a man of my age to admit that? I don't care. I may be 35 but I don't feel 35. Time sorta stopped for me a few years ago.

A Kzin is an upright tiger sort of creature, the Hero race. Nasty brutes, ratcats, some of them were cool like Chuft-Captain who got kicked by a Pupeteer, forever shaming him. I love that story.

I did not know about M'Ress until today. Weird, eh?

I will try to find the animated series to watch it, not only for her, but to see the Kzinti.

I tried a felinoid race in my stories but they kinda faded away. I will rework them one of these days.

I have been feeling down but learning new things, well, new to me, makes me feel better.
