Thunderstorms

My ex-girlfriend, Jen, loved thunderstorms. She said they were beautiful and intense. She was ignorant because they are nothing to be enjoyed.

Five minutes ago, a close lightning strike and a extremely loud bang of sudden thunder startled me and provoked my panic reaction.

The Zoloft is keeping it from becoming a full-on panic attack but if it happens again, then yes.

I have had some rough nights in the past with bad storms, the power going out, huddling scared in the dark as the weather I normally love rages outside.

That hasn't happened in a long time but this is an El Nino year and that means more stormy weather than there has been in the past few years.

It has not been really hot yet. The last few years, this time in May was scortchy. The summer is yet to come but if it isn't too hot, will you still deny climate change? You are fool if you do.

I am panicky right now but hopefully, I can calm down.

I hate thunderstorms.

Weather Anxiety

You know if you have read any of this blog that I like the weather. I like the sky, period. Day or night, especially.

I don't like sunlight. I am developing glaucoma and the light hurts, burns my fair skin in moments. Sunlight actually causes a panic reaction because it hurts.

I am fair skinned, you have seen pictures of my skin if you read this blog. I have freckles still, and I will be 40 around Thanksgiving time.

That is not the point here.

The point is, there are some huge supercell thunderstorms in this area, north of here. Confirmed tornadoes. It is that time of year and the weather has been behaving strangely. It hasn't been really hot yet and I remember many Spring times when it was scorching.

Thunderstorms don't stroke my anxiety disorder, they beat it with a stick. I have memories of bad storms through here when the power went out. That causes a panic attack as surely as a girl talking to me would.

Thankfully, none of the truly bad storms will hit this county. It isn't even raining at the moment.

You see, knowing a lot about the weather opens a fear of it, knowing what it could do.

I will be mindful of the situation north of here and hope no one is hurt.

Hurricane Fabio

This is Hurricane Fabio, churning away in the Pacific not far from North America. As like the now ragged remnants of Hurricane Emilia, it does not pose a threat to land.

I like this picture, it is like a swirl painting but that's just clouds.

It is heading north and will pass into colder water, which will kill a hurricane.

Hurricane Emilia

I haven't had any hurricanes to talk about. The Saharan dust and general ENSO-Neutral/El Nino climate affectations seem to be inhibiting Atlantic hurricane development.

This one is a beautiful hurricane we don't have to worry about. It is in the Pacific, far from land, heading west. It is not considered a threat.

As I write this, it is a Category 4 storm. If it should hit land, which it won't, it would be a horrible disaster. Luckily, it won't hit any land.

This picture is from the NOAA GOES-West satellite. There are a lot of wavelengths to choose from but I like this one that reveals a hurricane's deadly beauty.

The weather has always fascinated me. It always will.

Quiet Now....

A reminder, Hurricane Season begins on the 1st of June. I seroiusly doubt that the weather follows a schedule but the NHC knows more than I do about these things. This is a Weather Channel satellite image of the Atlantic Ocean. Most hurricanes that hit the Gulf, Carribean or East USA, start off as storms or an instability from the coast of Africa. Storm energy doesn't always manifest as storms. It could be a simple low pressure system.

The 2011 Hurricane Names issued by the NHC:

Arlene, Bret, Cindy, Don, Emily, Franklin, Gert, Harvey, Irene, Jose, Katia, Lee, Maria, Nate, Ophelia, Philippe, Rina, Sean, Tammy, Vince, Whitney

You can always visit the NWS National Hurricane Center at www.hurricanes.gov

The Weather Channel is always good about talking about hurricanes. The Tropical Update on the tv channel is always at 10 minutes before the hour.

Why do I talk about hurricanes? They have always fascinated me. Who could forget Hurricane Andrew? Of course, I live in CenTx, which can catch some gnarly weather if a hurricane hits between Houston and Courpus Christie. It is nothing as terrible as what anyone on the islands or coastlines get, however.

I will post nice pictures of hurricanes as they happen, as I usually do.

Alex, Too Close

This is Alex. This Infared satellite picture shows it in iffy detail. Remember, colder cloudtops mean harsher storms.

It's some distance from the area now but a hurricane's effects can reach across hundreds of miles.

It was cool today, a welcome respite from the torrential heat. Rain.

I like the rain. I like to run naked in it, lol, but I haven't done that in many years.

You know, if this thing jogs a little to the north, then it's ay-ya time here, you never want to be on the east side of a hurricane. It doesn't look like it will, it looks like it will pass over the Sierra Madre mountains of Mexico where it will fall apart and become just a low pressure system.

I hate thunderstorms. Unless you ever huddled in the dark after one knocks out the power, worrying, you cannot know how it feels.

It's all right, as I get older, it becomes just a thing. Like everything else.

Celia

It's that time again. There seems to be one in the badly marred Gulf of Mexico forming but it is too early to tell how strong it will be or where it will go. This one is a week old, well defined, and won't cause much trouble. It'll cross into cold water before even getting close to Hawaii and fall apart.

Let us appreciate the natural beauty of storms from high above thanks to the GEOS satellites.

Celia, kind of reminds me of Celica, lol. Never knew a girl named Celia that I can remember. I hope you like this picture, and remember, cyclonic storms on Earth pale into comparison to some, like say on Jupiter.

Hurricane Rick and Oh, Me

This is a basic IR image of Hurricane Rick, currently tormenting the area near the Sea of Cortez. The GOES Satellite System is great, ain't it?
Forgive the dark area in the picture, it is the terminator line, the line between night and day as seen from orbit.
Ol' Rick there is starting to move into colder waters and cold water to a hurricane is like water on a fire. I hope to visit Puero Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas someday and I hope this tormenta grande spares them and breaks up over the Sierra Madre Oriental.
I am still rather ill. I have a come and go fever and a painful cough and the angry prostate chimes in when I go to the bathroom. I still have no voice, but that's not so bad. Ain't got much to say anyway.
Kinda like Arthelius, the bum.

Ay! Rick's a Monster!

This Rainbow-IR image from a NOAA GOES Pacific Floater Satellite shows the awesome storm in the Pacific off Mexico's southern coast. It isn't threatening any land at the moment but gosh, it's a great picture.
I have become sick after an environmental disaster (water damage) in the rural wasteland. I have medicine and it works for a while. I think its coddling the mold allergy but is it an allergy or pneumonia? Time will tell, and maybe, Arthelius will get off his spectral ass to help. Ain't likely though.

Big Bad Bill

You might reckon that I like hurricane pictures. I always have.
Here on the day I was considering suicide, which I have decided against (for now), I get a lovely picture of a not so lovely hurricane. Lopsided by a High Pressure wave, this storm is about as photogenic as a smooshed cake.
NOAA's Geostationary Observation Enviromental Satellite (GOES)-East took this picture some hours ago.
Yay, it isn't forecasted to strike the Gulf. We don't need that kind of attention.

Morning Storm

It has been a long time since a big storm has hit the rural wasteland. Common here in storms are power failures, things getting blown around, and of course, bone soaking rain that comes down like a bucket being poured.

I was asleep until my radio broadcasted an emergency message from Channel 9 out of Waco.

I don't like storms. I have bad memories of them, huddling scared in the dark as the power went out and the very atmosphere rages outside.

I am not a fraidy cat. Do you remember the Jarrell Tornado? I saw it go by live on tv long before it hit Jarrell. I knew a girl from there who gave a graphic account of the death of a friend, who was wrapped around a tree like an overstretched doll. That girl was a fellow anthropology interested person like me.

It is sad, my gf, Jen, loves thunder and lightning. It gives her an orgasmic thrill. How strange is that? Every year, peope lose their homes and very lives in storms. Can't help from thinking of the dead people floating in the water in New Orleans in the days after Katrina.

During Katrina, the rural wasteland enjoyed beautiful weather as the monster hurricane had sucked all the moisture out of our local air. You always want to be on the west side of a low pressure system, or its most extreme form, a hurricane.

I do not know what this storm has done. Hopefully, it saved its worst for the cesspit. I will find out shortly on my daily joruney there.

Like Arthelius says: "We are at the mercy of elemental forces."

You think?

Big Bad Ike

Grrrr.... look at this, an assault on my beloved home state.

It has yet to affect our weather but we are under that green area in this image.

People say nothing will happen. What kind of idiot belittles the awesome elemental power of weather? I'm no weatherman but I have studied the weather most of my life so I know a thing or two.

This is a very unusual hurricane. It is much larger than the norm and its winds stretch out over a greater area. I hope my cats stay in a safe place when Ike slings something our way.

I don't remember a hurricane affecting the weather here in LC in my lifetime, but I've only been around 32 years.

My weather radio is ready. Got some batteries for the flashlight and I have water and soda and things to eat. the power here goes out in a typical t-storm, you know. This is anything but typical.

If it proves to be nothing, then well right on. We don't need tropical tempest here in the Heart of Texas.

I'll keep ya'll posted. Take in the houseplants, it's going to be windy tomorrow.

Ike!

Oh, man. Bad weather coming. Take a look at this beast.

This is a view from the GOES-East satellite, Floater 4, which often follows tropical cyclones as they violate the Monroe Doctrine. The pretty colors are provided by infared enhancements as it is night right now. Visible isn't possible.

People say, "It's nothing to be worried about." Have they ever huddled in the dark when the power went out as a t-storm rages outside? I cannot sleep when that happens. My anxiety plunges into full panic mode.

True, the bad half of the storm, not that there is a good half, is to the east. The inflow side, the side closest to the Mexican coast in this image, will pass over where I live.

Eh, why bother? It just isn't worth living anymore. I envy Arthelius, though he is me, he doesn't feel anything.

Sleepy but Not...

Last night, my weather radio blared with its alarm twice overnight, waking me up to say there was a tornado in Bell County. I live 2 counties away from that ancient part of Texas. It doesn't do anything when such a warning is issued for here, in the rural wasteland, which is ever beautiful when I am away from it for so long. That is growing unbearable.

I am SICK AND TIRED of being ignored, talked down to, forgotten, and yelled at. I am 32 years old. I have worked at wm for 2 years. 2 years wasted of my pitiful life.

There was an intense t-storm here tonight. I had to delay going home in the hope that it would blow over. I drove through rain and water like you wouldn't believe. I bought some things I needed and gosh, if it didnt take a lot of my money.

I reiterate my wish to just crawl into my shell and forget all but my dear one. Jen, my sweet angel. Just seeing her today really helped me avoid a breakdown in anxiety that happened in the confusion of that cesspit, which is under construction in the GC.

I thought my job in Grocery was a waste of time. I was wrong. The GC is a HUGE waste of time. wm could save money by sending me home. The greed keeps them from that.

I do not care if they read this.

I am sleepy but not, probably because of the copoius amounts of Coca-Cola I drank this evening. I love that stuff. I'm signing off for the night, now. I need to rest.

See ya'll later.
